Because of its fantastic central location, Marina del Rey is an excellent starting point for coastal fishing trips. Public “open party” fishing trips are available year round, trips are surprisingly affordable, and arrangements are easy to make.

This is a great way to get out on the ocean and see Los Angeles from a whole different perspective. Fish are plentiful in this area, and depending upon the time of year and the ship’s itinerary, crews will seek out halibut, yellowtail tuna, barracuda, calico, and sand and white sea bass.

Local operators offer half-day and three-quarter day fishing trips year-round, and summertime twilight fishing excursions from May to September. Friendly professional crews offer complete support, so it doesn’t matter if you are an experienced fisherman or not. Organizers provide rod, reel, bait and licenses, too, and will even clean and pack your fish for you to take home if you wish.

Trips usually depart form Dock 52 on Fiji Way, near Fisherman's Village. Make your reservation at least a day in advance, and enjoy the fun. Don’t forget to bring hat, sunglasses, sunblock, flat shoes, a light jacket – and your camera!
